Service Description: This service displays federal fishery management layers provided by the National Marine Fishery Service (NMFS) Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office (GARFO) as of December 2015. It includes an additional layer based on data designated by the Altantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC). Data from NMFS represent areas and regulations mandated in the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and do not represent a legal definition for the Regulated Areas. The description published in the CFR is the only legal definition. Federal data were available from GARFO's GIS site at http://www.greateratlantic.fisheries.noaa.gov/educational_resources/gis/.
